Vice Principal - Mr. Vincent Blackwood
This is Mr. Blackwood's second year in the school, in the roles of Vice Principal and Teacher. He currently teaches Math and Geography to Middle and High School students. Prior to being in the school, he worked for 15 years in the Oil and Gas industry. Mr. Blackwood was born and raised in San Angelo, TX, but has lived in Friendswood, TX (SE Houston area) since 2005. He and his wife 5 children and 6 chickens. His family loves to be outside and enjoy God's beautiful creation.
Mrs. Kathy Chapman - Kindergarten Teacher
Mrs. Chapman has taught Kindergarten for seven years and 18 years as an art teacher in the public schools. This will be her 26th year as a teacher! She was born in New Jersey but has lived in ten other states. She moved to Texas in 1993 and has been here since. Besides doing home improvement projects with her husband, she loves watching and feeding birds.
Miss. Bernadette Brueggemann - 1st grade
Miss. Brueggemann joined us in 2021. She was born and raised in Kentucky and taught for 9 years at the school located there. She has 15 siblings and more than 30 nieces and nephews. When she isn't teaching, you can find her working on the family farm and with her animals.
Mrs. Rita McLawchlin - 2nd/3rd grade
Mrs. McLawchlin has been teaching with us for 31 years! She has also taught kindergarten and 1st/2nd grade with us. She is originally from Alvin, TX. She enoys gardening and reading.
Miss. Anna Sick - 4th grade
Miss Sick is from Bowling Green, Missouri and attended the Dominican school in Massena, New York for the duration of her highschool years. She attended college at St Mary's College in St Marys, Kansas. This is her 4th year teaching and her 2nd year at Queen of Angels. As a summer job for several years she has worked at a facility for Development Disabilities back in her home state of Missouri. She is the 3rd out of 11 children and the eldest granddaughter out of a total of 62 grandchildren.
Mrs. Jill Sebastian - 5th/6th grade
Mrs. Sebastian joined us this year (2022) from Albuquerque, New Mexico where she taught for 3 years at La Conquistadora Academy and lived for 11 years. She has a teaching certificate in Art and Language Arts from the University of North Texas. She originally hails from Sherman, Texas but has lived in various states including Virginia, Florida and New Mexico. She enjoys art, photography, nature walls, and horses.
Miss. Elizabeth Fred - Language Arts
Miss. Fred joined Queen of Angels Academy in 2021 and currently teaches Language Arts to the 7-10th grade students. She started her teaching journey with the SSPX in 2014 at Our Lady of the Angels Academy in Arcadia,California. She has also taught at St. Bendict's Academy and Assumption Academy in Kentucky, and spent a year in India teaching at an orphanage with the Consoling Sisters.
Mrs. Michelina Sastoque - Math and Science
Mrs. Sastoque teaches Math and Science for 7th-10th grade. She has a bachelor’s of science degree in Microbiology from Kansas State University. She is originally from St. Marys, Kansas and moved to the Houston area in 2019.
Ms. Angela Malek - Music
Ms. Malek was born in Louisiana and has a Bachelors and Masters in vocal performance from Baylor University and Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University. She received a scholarship to Schola Cantorum, Basel, Switzerland, has been a Soprano soloist with choirs, orchestras and lived for10 years in Europe as a professional singer in opera and concerts. Ms. Malek enjoys reading, boating, fishing and hiking. She is currently teaching music theory, history and singing here at Queen of Angels along with directing the mixed and women’s choir at the church. Keep an eye out for her on the Texas Touring Roster and for the release of her album, Christus Natus Es with Centaur Records this Fall of 2022.
Miss. Maria Decker - Teacher Aid
Miss. Decker is an alumni of Queen of Angels Academy and has returned to help at the school. She is the oldest of 11 children and worked as a nanny for 2 years before joining our staff. She considers her work with the kindergarten and 1st grade students an adventure and enjoys watching students learn in the classroom and at play.
